Our Story

The Breakfast Club, Too is owner Susan's second restaurant. In 2011, Susan and her business partner Heather, opened The Breakfast Club, Etc in Lake Placid, NY in the heart of the Adirondack mountains. They were friends and coworkers who recognized that Lake Placid was lacking something fundamental. Great Breakfast! No one was offering breakfast all day, and no one was offering from scratch, fill you up breakfast with real maple syrup and homemade everything. With their hand crafted Bloody Marys, Mimosas and creative cocktails, the idea of the BC was about more than just a quick bite to start the day. They focused on the whole breakfast experience…homemade food, signature drinks and coffees and a friendly, fun and attentive staff. Not long after opening, The Breakfast Club, Etc became the place to go for breakfast in Lake Placid. 

About the same time as The BC, Etc opened, Susan met her amazing husband Rob. He was a log and timber frame home builder and artist. He came with two adult children who grew up in Key West and the Adirondack mountains. Winters are cold and snowy in the Adirondacks, and Rob and Susan thought it would be so much nicer to spend the winter months in Key West with the kids, and summers in Lake Placid. The best of both worlds. How do you do that? Open another Breakfast Club!

And so, Susan and Rob branched out on their own and The Breakfast Club, Too was born in January of 2018. 

Both restaurants have similar menus. You will always find our signature Röstis and Benedicts, scratch made cheddar biscuits and house dijon sausage on both menus. And, of course, our famous biscuits and gravy. But at The Breakfast Club, Too we get to play with more tropical fruits and seafood in our ocean themed space. And you will find other regional differences as well. The Cuban Benedict and Chorizo Rösti are local favorites. All the sculptures and artwork are Rob's creations, and Susan regularly comes home to a life size shark or octopus or some other sea creature waiting for a home in the restaurant.

Our love the ocean is one of the reasons we were drawn to Paradise. And we feel very strongly about protecting our oceans and its wildlife. We regularly participate in ocean clean ups and we always bring garbage bags to clean the beach at Geiger Key when we take Calypso, our dog, on her nightly run! We are a part of this community and we want to try to give back to this beautiful island that has given us a new home.

At The Breakfast Club, Too we take real pride in making almost everything from scratch. Our concept has always been, at both restaurants, to create food that is familiar yet expands the expectations of what breakfast can be. Our food is guaranteed to fill you up. We want to make sure you have all the energy you need for your day of adventure in Key West. 

After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
